Song of the Week
7/22/10 - "Tsukiiro no Syndicate"![]()
Hello again and welcome to Song of the Week! This week's song is one I continue to epic fail on while doing Miss Dream's karaoke feature, "Tsukiiro no Syndicate" (Moon-Colored Syndicate)."Tsukiiro no Syndicate" appears in the musical Starlights*Ryuusei Densetsu, one of a handful of songs from that musical that aren't borrowed from other musicals. You could say it takes the place that "Knockin' Down Hesitation" would've probably filled otherwise. It does not, however, appear in that musical's sort-of Kaiteiban, Kakyuu Ouhi Kourin - THE SECOND STAGE FINAL. However, it did appear a few times after its original debut. It appeared at two fan events (the Golden Week Fan Kansha for Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu and the 2004 Shanghai Fankan) and was also a featured service number for the senshuuraku (last day performance) of Marinamoon Final, according to the Marinamoon Final VHS omake, though Marina-chan (who is narrating the omake) informs us it was chosen as a service number "just before the senshuuraku," suggesting it was a last-minute choice, perhaps to replace another song.

I personally really like this song; I think it does a good job of showing the kind of Usagi Marina-chan is known for: cute and very energetic. Marina-chan says in one of her last interviews for the myus that she became more like Usagi as time went on, and I think this song shows that. On the flip side, the title is kind of random (unless it refers to a press syndicate, which kind of goes with the song's lyrics about rumors and news) and the song is, as I mentioned, VERY difficult to sing, simply because it goes so dang fast in spots. It's like they tried to stick a gazillion words into each line, not unlike "And Believe in All" actually (another song I've been trying to sing via Miss Dream's karaoke feature).Well gotta leave for Comic-Con! (Woohoo!) Tune in next Thursday to see the next Song of the Week!
